**Job Title:** District Manager
**Role Summary:**
Hands‑on leader responsible for overseeing waste collection, disposal, recycling, and fleet operations across the Northern Ontario district (Barrie, Simcoe County, Parry Sound). Drives business growth through municipal and industrial/commercial/institutional contracts, ensures regulatory compliance, safety, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. Reports to the VP of Operations, Ontario.
**Expectations:**
- Lead a team of 6 direct reports and additional operational staff.
- Maintain 100 % compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Achieve budget targets while optimizing cost per route/ton.
- Increase waste diversion and recycling rates.
- Deliver superior customer service and resolve service issues promptly.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee district‑wide waste collection, disposal, recycling, and processing activities.
- Ensure adequate staffing, schedule coverage, and minimal downtime.
- Supervise Operations Managers, Maintenance Manager, district admin, and sales personnel; conduct performance reviews and safety training.
- Manage customer relations, address complaints, and communicate schedule changes.
- Maintain compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations; prepare required reports and audits.
- Develop, monitor, and control the district operational budget; track equipment, fuel, and labor costs.
- Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost diversion rates and operational efficiency.
- Leverage waste‑management software for routing, performance tracking, and data analysis; evaluate new technologies for adoption.

**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent post‑secondary education).
- Minimum 5 years of multi‑site operations management experience in waste management or a comparable industry.
- At least 2–5 years of direct supervisory experience (minimum 5 direct reports).
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing contracts with municipalities, governments, or large institutional clients.
- No specific certifications listed, but relevant safety, environmental, or fleet‑management certifications are advantageous.
