Job Description
**Job Title** Cybersecurity Intern (Summer 2026) **Role Summary** Support the cybersecurity team by conducting audits, identifying security gaps, and collaborating with IT and engineering to design and implement remediation plans. Gain hands‑on experience in vulnerability management, baseline hardening, centralized logging, and security awareness training. **Expectations** - Complete internship on a full‑time basis for the summer term. - Demonstrate a proactive, self‑motivated approach to learning and problem solving. - Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and effective communication across teams. - Stay current with emerging threats and industry best practices. **Key Responsibilities** - Assist with cybersecurity audits, documentation of findings, and assessment of current controls. - Identify and document security gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities. - Collaborate with cybersecurity, IT, and engineering teams to develop remediation plans and success metrics. - Support baseline hardening, centralized logging/monitoring evaluation, cloud governance, and configuration/vulnerability management. - Evaluate vendors, document requirements, compare options, and summarize trade‑offs. - Implement and validate security improvements, monitor alerts, and produce status reports. - Create, maintain, and organize security documentation (findings, procedures, standards, runbooks, evidence). - Develop and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness content, including phishing‑awareness and onboarding. - Keep up‑to‑date on threat trends and recommend practical countermeasures. - Perform additional related duties as assigned. **Required Skills** - Knowledge of information‑systems security principles and technologies (network protocols, encryption, firewalls, IDS). - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to investigate potential breaches. - Ability to monitor and analyze logs and alerts from diverse technologies. - Effective verbal and written communication for collaboration and reporting. - Quick learning, adaptability to new tools and evolving security standards. - Basic programming or software‑development understanding to spot code vulnerabilities. - Initiative, self‑motivation, and ability to motivate peers. - Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. **Required Education & Certifications** - Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. - No specific certifications required; certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH are considered a plus.
