Job Description

Job Title: Compliance Manager Role Summary: Serve as the escalation point for complex and high‑risk compliance matters in a large legal firm, supporting senior risk leadership in fostering a strong compliance culture. Manage a portfolio of compliance projects, provide expert legal and regulatory advice, and embed best practices across all divisions. Expectations: - Demonstrate expertise in legal risk, regulatory, ethical, and data protection issues. - Lead cross‑functional initiatives that strengthen controls and improve processes. - Deliver clear, actionable insights to partners and staff, promoting a risk‑aware culture. - Mentor junior compliance staff and contribute to continuous learning. Key Responsibilities: - Advise partners and staff on complex risk, regulatory, ethical, and data protection matters. - Lead and coordinate risk and compliance projects, identifying opportunities for process improvement. - Produce and analyze risk data to enhance firm‑wide performance metrics. - Update key firm documents, policies, and engagement materials to reflect regulatory changes. - Design, develop, and deliver tailored compliance training across divisions. - Monitor regulatory developments, assess impact on firm operations, and provide timely guidance. - Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Required Skills: - In‑depth knowledge of UK legal practice regulations, data protection laws (e.g., GDPR), and professional standards. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication; adept at producing concise reports and presentations. - Project management experience with the ability to deliver on multi‑disciplinary initiatives. - Leadership abilities, including mentoring and coaching. - Proactive, detail‑oriented mindset. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent (LLB preferred). - Qualified solicitor or equivalent legal qualification preferred but not mandatory. - Professional certifications in compliance, risk management, or data protection (e.g., CIPM, CCA, CIPP/E) highly desired.
