Job Title: Infrastructure Development Engineer
Role Summary: Design, automate, and scale datacenter infrastructure services for bare‑metal, virtualization, and cloud‑adjacent platforms, ensuring reliable, self‑service provisioning from hardware to production services.
Expectations:
- Directly contracted by the client on their payroll.
- Full‑time, 40‑hour weeks, starting 16 March 2026 with a 6‑month term and potential extension.
- No sponsorship offered.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain Python‑based automation for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and self‑service workflows.
2. Automate operational tasks such as imaging, deployments, health checks, and remediation, reducing manual effort.
3. Integrate infrastructure workflows with internal and external APIs (compute, storage, network, cloud).
4. Own corporate IPAM/DDI platforms, design scalable IP allocation, DNS, DHCP strategies, and integrate them with bootstrapping and CMDB workflows.
5. Steward the CMDB, enforce asset discovery, lifecycle state, and dependency mapping standards.
6. Implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Nagios, or similar; define and track key metrics (availability, latency, capacity).
7. Participate in incident response, root‑cause analysis, runbook creation, and long‑term reliability improvements.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in bare‑metal provisioning and hypervisor deployment (OpenStack, VMware, KubeVirt, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of IPAM, DNS, DHCP at enterprise scale.
- Experience with CMDB systems as a source of truth.
- Strong datacenter networking fundamentals, including Fibre Channel, and Linux system troubleshooting.
- Automation expertise: Python scripting, API‑driven integrations, workflow orchestration.
- Cross‑functional collaboration with hardware, network, storage, and SRE teams.
- Operational mindset focused on reliability, correctness, and supportability.
Optional/Preferred Skills:
- Experience with large‑scale internal platforms or infrastructure-as-a‑product.
- Background in SRE or reliability engineering.
- Exposure to self‑service infrastructure and developer enablement.
- Multi‑datacenter (across data centers or hybrid environments) bootstrapping experience.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA/CCNP), virtualization, or cloud platforms are preferred.
