**Job Title:** Technical User Researcher – Central Government
**Role Summary:**
Conduct rigorous user‑research activities for a privileged access management (PAM) system at the Alpha stage within a central government environment. Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for product managers, engineers, and security teams.
**Expectations:**
- Work onsite once a week (London, Manchester, or Bristol).
- Projects run until end of July 2026, with potential extension.
- Maintain active BPSS and Security Clearance (SC) during employment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, execute, and analyze a range of qualitative and quantitative user‑research studies (interviews, usability tests, workshops, surveys).
- Synthesize findings into clear stories, visual artefacts, and recommendation reports that inform product decisions.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and security experts to translate research insights into tangible design and development actions.
- Advocate user perspectives within technical teams, ensuring that privileged access flows and security controls meet real‑world usability needs.
- Document research methodology, ethical considerations, and research outputs for stakeholders and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the development of research best practices within the team.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience leading user‑research projects in a technical, secure government context.
- Deep understanding of privileged access management concepts and cyber‑security principles.
- Proficiency in multiple user‑research methods (interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, usability testing, mixed‑methods analytics).
- Ability to translate technical jargon into user‑friendly narratives and actionable recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder‑management skills – communicate findings to product, engineering, and security audiences.
- Analytical mindset with experience handling quantitative data (e.g., survey metrics, eye‑tracking, log analysis).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Human‑Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
- Mandatory BPSS clearance and active Security Clearance (SC).
