VULNERABILITY ANALYST
Job Description
Job title: Vulnerability Analyst Role Summary: Responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating security weaknesses across IT systems and applications. Conducts vulnerability scanning, log analysis, risk prioritization, and collaborates with IT and security teams to remediate findings and produce reports. Expactations: - Adheres to standard working hours and deadlines. - Follows company policies and procedures. - Communicates regularly with supervisor and stakeholders. - Maintains focus on assigned tasks and completes additional duties as required. Key Responsibilities: - Perform vulnerability scans (Nessus and other platforms). - Analyze scan results, validate findings, and prioritize remediation. - Manage vulnerability lifecycle and risk scoring (CVSS, etc.). - Ingest, parse, and analyze logs from Windows, Linux, macOS, and network devices using SIEM tools (Splunk or equivalent). - Create and maintain SIEM dashboards, alerts, and queries, including regex/scripting. - Collaborate with system owners to communicate vulnerabilities and log issues. - Document findings, reports, and standard operating procedures. - Train backup personnel and mentor junior team members. - Support patch management processes and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001). Required Skills: - 5+ years in vulnerability assessment, security monitoring, and log analysis. - Proficiency with Nessus and other vulnerability scanners. - Advanced SIEM skills (Splunk), including dashboard creation, alert configuration, and query development. - Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, macOS log mechanisms and network protocols. - Familiarity with CVSS, risk scoring, and vulnerability lifecycle management. - Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities. - Ability to explain technical findings to non‑security stakeholders. - Organizational, time‑management, and multitasking capabilities. - Experience with patch management tools and compliance frameworks. - Understanding of DevSecOps and incident response. Required Education & Certifications: - U.S. citizenship. - CompTIA Security+ or higher (CSWF). - Additional preferred certifications: Splunk SIEM, CISSP, GSLC, Server/System Administration. - Military/government experience and related certifications are advantageous.
