**Job Title**
Senior Lead Network Engineer
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of a comprehensive wired and wireless network for a large‑scale government project. Evaluate existing disparate networks, architect integrated solutions, perform testing and vulnerability assessments, and manage day‑to‑day operations while collaborating with state/local stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors.
**Expectations**
- Deliver end‑to‑end network infrastructure solutions (wireless, wired, software).
- Maintain and improve monitoring, reporting, and documentation.
- Ensure security, compliance, and quality assurance through testing and patch management.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal resources.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
- Enhance monitoring and reporting via network management software.
- Develop and maintain network documentation (JIRA, wiki, diagrams).
- Review best practices; recommend architecture, design, and operations improvements.
- Administer Cloudpath onboarding, wireless health monitoring, and security patching (0800‑1700 PST, M‑F).
- Assess infrastructure, propose optimizations.
- Define and execute testing procedures for new projects.
- Implement technology solutions within the NPS environment.
- Provide design guidance on network solutions.
- Conduct informal training on best practices and product operation.
**Required Skills**
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Proficiency with RF site survey tools (Ekahau, RF scanners, Wireshark).
- Deep knowledge of layer‑2/3 protocols (VLAN, 802.1w, OSPF, VRRP).
- Expertise in network security (802.1x, MAC auth, ACLs, RADIUS, CA).
- Troubleshooting RF and LAN issues.
- Working knowledge of Linux, Windows Server 2013, VMware.
- Experience with disaster‑recovery planning, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and cyber threat analysis.
- Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM project management.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- CWNA and BCNE certifications (or equivalent).
- Additional industry certifications or licenses are a plus.
