Job Description
**Job Title:** Finance Intern **Role Summary** Assist in all phases of healthcare financial reporting and analysis under the supervision of a financial reporting leader. Gain hands‑on experience with monthly close procedures, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and performance reporting for a multi‑hospital health system. **Expectations** - Demonstrate professionalism and initiative. - Build effective working relationships with finance staff and leadership. - Apply classroom knowledge to a live business environment. - Exhibit data confidentiality and integrity. - Possess a strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and adapt. **Key Responsibilities** - Support internal financial statement preparation for board and management. - Assist with external reporting to bond rating agencies, Medicare/Medicaid agencies, HSCRC, and Maryland Hospital Association. - Contribute to monthly and annual financial close processes and consolidated audit preparation. - Help establish and monitor annual Global Budget Revenue (GBR) and unit rates; negotiate GBR improvements. - Provide revenue budgeting, volume, and expense analysis for individual hospitals. - Monitor and investigate financial transactions for accuracy and compliance. - Compile statistical, compliance, and regulatory reports in accordance with agency standards. - Organize and maintain key schedules and reports. - Participate in meetings; manage agenda preparation, minutes, and follow‑up. **Required Skills** - Strong analytical and quantitative skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting software. - Understanding of financial reporting principles and healthcare regulations. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. - Organizational and project‑management abilities. - Collaborative teamwork orientation. **Required Education & Certifications** - Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program (accounting or related major). - Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. - Two or more years of college coursework preferred. - Knowledge of healthcare financial reporting or willingness to learn.
