Job Description
Job title: Senior Backend Developer Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain high‑availability backend systems and data pipelines that process satellite and aircraft emissions data in a cloud‑native environment. Collaborate cross‑functionally within an Agile Scrum team to deliver features and monitor production performance. Expectations: - Participate in a rotational on‑call schedule and achieve Canadian government security clearance. - Work autonomously with minimal supervision, delivering robust, well‑tested code aligned with product requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Build and optimize data processing pipelines for satellite and aircraft emissions data. - Develop, test, integrate, and deploy backend services to AWS cloud environments. - Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure reliability and performance. - Analyze remote‑sensing data and provide insights to stakeholders. - Document new tools and features; collaborate with Operators, Developers, Designers, QA, and Product Managers to define requirements. Required Skills: - Linux, Python, Docker expertise. - Cloud services (AWS) proficiency. - Relational database experience (PostgreSQL). - Version control (Git) and container orchestration (Kubernetes). - CI/CD practice using Argo Workflows (preferred). - Agile Scrum framework familiarity. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent. - Minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience.
