Job Description
**Job title:** Software Project Engineer **Role Summary** Contract Software Engineer in the aerospace & defence sector responsible for designing, developing and maintaining high‑integrity mission‑critical software systems. Works on a project basis, delivering code, testing, and documentation that meet stringent industry standards. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality software on schedule following best practices. - Adhere to safety, security, and quality requirements defined by aerospace standards (e.g., DO-178C, ISO 26262). - Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (systems engineers, QA, integration). - Participate in requirement analysis, design reviews, and code reviews. - Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and a disciplined engineering mindset. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Develop and maintain software components for aerospace/defence applications using industry‑standard languages (C/C++, Ada, or equivalent). 2. Perform unit, integration, and verification testing; prepare test cases and results. 3. Contribute to design documentation, compliance artefacts, and configuration management. 4. Review requirements and specifications, providing realistic technical estimates. 5. Support troubleshooting, debugging, and root‑cause analysis of defects. 6. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives (process optimization, tool support, automation). **Required Skills** - Proficiency in C/C++ (or similar high‑reliability languages). - Experience with safety‑critical software development cycles and compliance standards (DO‑178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61558). - Familiarity with version control (Git/SVN), build systems, and automated testing frameworks. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; attention to detail. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently in a contractual, deadline‑driven environment. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. - Preferable certifications or coursework in safety‑critical systems (e.g., Safety‑Critical Software Engineering). - Demonstrated knowledge of aerospace/defence industry best practices and regulations.
