Job Title: Staff Product Designer, Investing
Role Summary:
Senior product designer responsible for shaping the user experience of a brokerage platform. Leads end‑to‑end design—including research, concepts, interaction, and visual polish—while collaborating closely with engineering, product, data science, and stakeholders. Serves as a mentor to junior designers and elevates design standards across the investing product line.
Expectations:
- Deep expertise in trading and brokerage interfaces, with a focus on simplifying complex financial concepts.
- Proven track record of shipping polished, consumer‑facing mobile and web products at scale.
- Ability to translate design strategy into actionable, high‑quality deliverables that meet business goals.
- Strong advocates for data‑driven decisions and user‑centered design throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct user research and usability testing to uncover insights about investors’ needs and behaviors.
2. Translate research findings and business goals into product strategy, wireframes, high‑fidelity prototypes, and design specifications.
3. Partner with engineering, data science, and product management to identify pragmatic, scalable solutions that balance customer delight with technical feasibility.
4. Iterate designs quickly, producing low‑fidelity sketches for concept exploration and detailed visual designs for handoff.
5. Mentor and develop junior designers, raising overall design quality and facilitating skill growth.
6. Act as a subject‑matter expert on stock and option trading, ensuring accuracy and clarity in the user experience.
7. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g., AI, new UI patterns), and design tools to continually refresh product innovation.
Required Skills:
- Mastery of UI/UX design tools (Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Principle, Framer, etc.) and best practices.
- Proficient in interaction design, motion, and visual design for mobile and web.
- Strong research skills: qualitative interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, and data analysis.
- Experience delivering end‑to‑end design for consumer‑facing financial or trading products.
- Ability to communicate complex design solutions clearly to cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated aptitude for turning ambiguous problems into simple, intuitive experiences.
- Comfortable leading design critiques, workshops, and mentorship sessions.
- Data‑driven mindset: leveraging metrics and analytics to inform design decisions.
- Project ownership with a bias for action and timely execution.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Fine Arts, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive product design experience, including leadership or staff‑level roles.
