**Job Title:** Remote Associate Data Engineering Manager (m/f/d)
**Role Summary:**
Hands‑on leader responsible for building and scaling a new Market Data team that centralizes external data acquisition, modeling, and transformation. Combines people management with technical contribution to define roadmap, enforce engineering best practices, and drive a high‑performance, data‑centric culture across the organization.
**Expactations:**
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and data engineers.
- Balance autonomous team ownership with accountability to senior leadership.
- Deliver scalable, cost‑efficient data pipelines and robust data platform foundations.
- Maintain active technical involvement through coding, reviews, and architectural discussions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Recruit, onboard, and develop engineers; conduct regular 1:1s and performance feedback.
- Design and implement production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines on cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
- Establish engineering standards: testing, observability, documentation, and code quality.
- Modernize legacy data workflows into structured, maintainable systems.
- Define and enforce data modeling conventions and analytics‑ready schemas.
- Collaborate with Product, senior engineering, and other Engineering Managers to align roadmaps and standards.
- Contribute to company‑wide data architecture decisions and act as a reference for data‑engineering best practices.
- Promote a culture of data quality, clear ownership, and measurable outcomes.
**Required Skills:**
- 4+ years Python development experience.
- Proven experience leading engineers (team lead or manager role).
- Strong background in building/maintaining production ETL/ELT pipelines on cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Redshift).
- Expertise in data modeling, schema design, performance optimization, testing, and documentation.
- Hands‑on experience with orchestration tools (Dagster, Airflow, or equivalents).
- Solid system design and architecture skills focused on scalability and maintainability.
- Excellent coaching mindset, analytical thinking, and ability to thrive in ambiguous environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- No specific certifications required; industry‑recognized certifications in cloud platforms or data engineering are a plus.
