Job Description: Job Title: Fullstack Software Engineer, Pricing Lifecycle Role Summary: Instrument build of core pricing lifecycle primitives that drive Orb’s usage‑based billing platform. Design extensible architecture, shape data models, and scale real‑time ingestion/query systems to support large, high‑performance deployments. Work closely with product, design, sales, and direct customers to refine product direction and deliver reliable, accurate billing solutions. Expectations: * Minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience. * Proficiency across the stack, with a strong focus on clean, extensible code and user‑centric design. * Ability to engage directly with customers to gather feedback and translate pain points into product improvements. * Detail‑oriented mindset for API design, UX considerations, and performance tuning. * Willingness to work in the San Francisco Bay Area or relocate with support. Key Responsibilities: * Architect and implement pricing lifecycle primitives using a modular, API‑first approach. * Evolve the product data model to balance complexity and clarity while ensuring data integrity. * Design and maintain high‑scale ingestion pipelines and query workloads in real‑time using streaming technologies. * Collaborate cross‑functionally with PM, design, sales, and customer success to shape roadmap and launch new features. * Participate in code reviews, bug triage, and continuous improvement of engineering practices. Required Skills: * Backend: Python (FastAPI/Flask) with experience writing scalable services. * Frontend: TypeScript, React, Tailwind CSS for building intuitive UIs. * Databases: PostgreSQL; familiarity with analytical engines such as ClickHouse or Druid. * Streaming & Messaging: Kafka and Spark Streaming (or equivalent). * Cloud: AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions). * API design and documentation, unit and integration testing, Git, CI/CD. * Strong communication and customer‑engagement skills; ability to translate technical details into business value. Required Education & Certifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience accepted. * No mandatory certifications required (AWS, Kafka, etc. are a plus).
