Job Description
**Job Title:** Splunk Engineering Consultant **Role Summary:** Responsible for stabilizing, optimizing, and enhancing a high‑volume Splunk deployment to meet security, compliance, and analytical objectives. Focus on search performance, data pipeline reliability, knowledge object hygiene, and governance maturity while enabling advanced analytics and CI/CD practices. **Expectations:** - Deliver measurable improvements in search speed, reliability, and analyst productivity. - Reduce knowledge object bloat and enforce governance controls. - Ensure data pipelines are resilient, observable, and meet compliance requirements. - Align detection code and advanced analytics with CI/CD and governance standards. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Search & Performance Optimization** – Tune SPL queries, implement caching, and enforce search‑hygiene practices to reduce redundant or costly searches. 2. **Data Integration & Reliability** – Stabilize ingestion pipelines, support real‑time flows, and enhance indexing, clustering, and correlation workloads. 3. **Governance & Lifecycle Management** – Rationalize knowledge objects, monitor field drift and schema changes, and implement lightweight governance and lifecycle controls. 4. **Advanced Capabilities & Usability** – Enable notebook‑style investigations, collaborate on data transformation and ML/AI analytics, and provide detection‑as‑code guidance with CI/CD integration. **Required Skills:** - 9–12 years (or equivalent) hands‑on Splunk Enterprise / Enterprise Security administration and engineering. - Expert SPL tuning, indexing strategy, search optimization, and performance troubleshooting. - Proven data pipeline reliability and ingestion stabilization experience. - Knowledge of Splunk governance principles, including knowledge object hygiene, schema evolution, and retention/access practices. - Proficient scripting in Python or equivalent for automation. **Preferred Skills:** - Security detection engineering or detection‑as‑code frameworks experience. - Background in ML/AI features within Splunk or related systems. - Understanding of compliance frameworks relevant to Splunk governance. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Splunk Certified Architect or Engineer certifications highly desirable.
