Job Description
Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer Role Summary: Design, develop, and ship safe‑critical medical device firmware across the full product lifecycle, from prototype to production. Own end‑to‑end code, system architecture, and manufacturing readiness, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams. Expectations: Deliver high‑quality embedded software that meets stringent safety and regulatory requirements. Mentor peers and influence engineering practices in a fast‑moving scale‑up environment. Key Responsibilities: - Write and maintain embedded C/C++ code for medical device firmware. - Prepare product for manufacturability, ensuring code supports assembly, test, and field service. - Develop new features and next‑generation capabilities, shaping system‑level architecture. - Debug, test, and validate firmware on hardware prototypes and production builds. - Collaborate with biologists, product designers, and manufacturing teams throughout the development cycle. - Optionally design secure communication protocols, applying networking or cybersecurity knowledge. Required Skills: - Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++. - Experience with safety‑critical or medical device software development. - Knowledge of real‑time operating systems and hardware interfacing. - Familiarity with manufacturing‑ready firmware practices (debugging, test fixture integration). - Ability to design system‑level architecture and drive architectural decisions. - (Preferred) Experience in networking, secure communications, or cybersecurity for embedded systems. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. - (Preferred) IEC 62304, ISO 14971, or other medical device software safety certifications.
