**Job title:**
Senior DevOps / NetOps Engineer – Defense Sector
**Role Summary:**
Lead design, deployment, and management of secure network infrastructures and automation pipelines for cloud and on‑prem environments within a defense context. Drive network performance, security compliance, and operational excellence through IaC, scripting, and continuous integration practices.
**Expectations:**
- Minimum 5 years of comparable experience.
- Full‑time onsite engagement requiring Defense‑specific authorization only.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Architect and manage network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLAN, VPN, MPLS, MPLS).
- Deploy, configure, and maintain secure network devices, primarily Palo Alto firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
- Optimize network latency, bandwidth, and security for highly regulated environments.
- Build and maintain automation tools using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef.
- Author playbooks, scripts, and workflows (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for deployment, monitoring, and reporting.
- Integrate network management solutions into AWS, Azure, or GCP VPCs, subnets, and peering configurations.
- Conduct regular security audits, gap analyses, and corrective action plans in accordance with ISO 27001, GDPR, and defense standards.
- Provide 2nd/3rd‑level support for complex network incidents and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure service continuity.
**Required Skills:**
- Deep understanding of OSI, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, MPLS, SD‑WAN, BGP, OSPF.
- Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN solutions.
- Proficient in IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Advanced scripting in Python; strong Bash and PowerShell capabilities.
- Cloud networking expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP with security best practices.
- Knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR) and secure communications.
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Palo Alto PA‑CP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent IaC and DevOps credentials.
