Job Title: DevOps Engineer – GitHub Migration Projects Role Summary: Lead the migration of code repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server, BitBucket, or GitLab to GitHub Enterprise Cloud. Work directly with client engineering teams to design scalable migration strategies, automate processes, and ensure accurate transfer of repository data, history, and permissions. Expectations: - Execute end‑to‑end migration projects for multiple clients. - Deliver clear documentation and status updates to stakeholders. - Maintain high quality automation scripts and workflows. Key Responsibilities: - Plan and execute source code repository migrations to GitHub Enterprise Cloud. - Engage with client engineers and leadership to elicit requirements and provide progress reports. - Design migration paths, including tooling, automation, branching strategies, and permission mapping. - Analyze existing GitHub Enterprise Server configurations and repository metadata for accurate migration. - Troubleshoot issues related to file size limits, compatibility, network connectivity, or permissions. - Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Bash) and GitHub Actions workflows to accelerate migration activities. - Collaborate with project management to schedule and implement migration waves. Required Skills: - Extensive experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, GitHub Enterprise Server, GitLab, and/or BitBucket. - Proven track record in planning and executing source‑control migrations, including scope definition, branch mapping, history retention, and permission translation. - Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation. - Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies. - Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is a plus. - Experience with package management systems. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience). - Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, GitHub Advanced Security, or equivalent are desirable.
