Job Description
Job title: Security Program Protection Specialist Role Summary: Leads security classification, risk assessment, and protection of classified and controlled unclassified GEOINT research programs at the national level, ensuring compliance with DoD and intelligence community safeguards. Expactations: Deliver daily security guidance, conduct risk evaluations, produce classification documentation, and advise on countermeasures for research and development initiatives. Key Responsibilities: - Perform system security analysis and maintain risk assessment records for NGA research projects. - Continuously identify and document threats, vulnerabilities, and potential exploitation paths. - Assess data loss impact and recommend mitigation strategies. - Draft and update technical and process-based classification guidance for new concepts and GEOINT tools. - Advise on classification management, special security, industrial security, education, and investigations. - Coordinate with Program Managers and Office of the General Counsel to identify export‑controlled/ITAR‑restricted technologies. - Conduct briefings on evolving security policies and foreign government engagement. - Apply business intelligence and social network analysis to uncover supply‑chain, financial, and partnership threats. - Evaluate technology innovation ecosystems and supplier maturity to support critical enabling components. Required Skills: - Strategic security program development, staffing, and management in R&D environments. - Deep knowledge of Research & Technology Protection (RTP) and Program Protection Planning (PPP). - Proficiency with DoDI 5200.x series, IC Markings Guide, and DoD-provided program protection materials. - Strong analytical, documentation, and briefing capabilities. - Ability to apply business intelligence and network analysis tools. - Knowledge of export controls, ITAR, and foreign government relations. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree (master’s or PhD preferred). - 15+ years of security program experience in R&D. - Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; willingness to sit for CI Poly. - Certifications (preferred) – Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC), Security Program Integration Professional Certificate (SPIPC), Special Program Security Certification (SPSC). - Experience with NGA programs and tools.
