**Job Title**
Senior Hardware Engineer – Interconnects
**Role Summary**
Lead end‑to‑end design, evaluation, and release of high‑speed server backplane and cable interconnect solutions for AWS compute systems, focusing on PCIe, SerDes, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance.
**Expectations**
* Deliver high‑performance, cost‑effective interconnect architectures that meet AWS datacenter specifications.
* Apply signal integrity principles to optimize high‑speed links, minimize EMI/EMC, and ensure robust field reliability.
* Drive manufacturing processes, DFM, and vendor relationships to meet launch schedules.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross‑functional teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Design, evaluate, and certify server backplane and cable interconnects for high‑performance compute platforms.
* Develop and validate high‑speed connectors: definition, selection, 3‑D modeling, simulation, and mechanical integration.
* Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and system architects to fulfill SI, PI, and thermal requirements.
* Manage vendor relations: specification alignment, technical reviews, performance validation, and manufacturing support.
* Apply signal‑integrity analysis to reduce EMI/EMC and optimize link performance.
* Drive connector and cable manufacturing: DFM, tooling, assembly techniques, and quality control.
* Conduct failure analysis, root‑cause investigations, and field resolution for interconnect systems.
* Leverage high‑speed PCB design experience as a plus.
**Required Skills**
* Proven experience in high‑speed interconnect and cable design (PCIe, SerDes).
* Proficiency in signal‑integrity analysis tools (e.g., 30‑16x30 dB).
* Strong knowledge of power‑integrity, thermal management, and mechanical integration.
* Expertise in 3‑D modeling, simulation, and DFM for connectors and cables.
* Vendor management and manufacturing process experience.
* Solid troubleshooting and failure‑analysis skills in high‑speed interconnects.
* Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
**Required Education & Certifications**
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
* Professional certifications in signal‑integrity, high‑speed design, or related fields are a plus.
