Job Description
Job Title: Security Officer Role Summary Safeguard hospital premises, personnel, patients, and visitors through vigilant patrol, access control enforcement, and incident response. Operate facility vehicles and security equipment, manage traffic flow, and report safety hazards while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and state regulations. Expectations - Immediate response to security incidents and emergencies. - Accurate documentation of incidents and equipment status. - Collaboration with hospital staff to uphold safety protocols. - Consistent adherence to NYS security and traffic regulations. Key Responsibilities - Patrol buildings and grounds to deter fire, theft, vandalism, and unlawful entry. - Enforce access control: secure doors, locks, alarm systems, and visitor credentials. - Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic for safety and orderliness. - Operate and maintain facility vehicles and security equipment per regulatory and manufacturer guidelines. - Inspect packages and assist in physical force application when necessary. - Identify and report fire hazards, safety violations, and assist in evacuation or emergency procedures. - Prepare incident reports in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. - Perform additional duties as requested to support overall safety objectives. Required Skills - Strong observational and situational awareness. - Effective communication and report writing abilities. - Knowledge of access control systems and alarm operation. - Ability to manage traffic flow and enforce safety protocols. - Physical fitness and capacity to perform patrols and emergency responses. - Conflict resolution and ability to handle physical force when warranted. Required Education & Certifications - High school diploma or equivalent. - Valid New York State Security Guard license (or NYS Police/Peace Officer license). - Preferably 1 year of experience as a NYS licensed Security Guard.
