Job title: Research Associate Role Summary: Perform and analyse physiological outcome measures for a randomized controlled trial on Long COVID, including cardiorespiratory, muscular, fatigue, and heart rate variability assessments, to inform treatment response. Expactations: Full‑time, 35 h per week on a fixed‑term contract (Jan 5 – Apr 30 2026). Conduct daily physiological testing, data analysis, and participant recruitment/consent under supervision. Receive training in all testing modalities. Key Responsibilities: - Execute lung function tests (spirometry, etc.). - Conduct exercise capacity assessments (e.g., CPET, sub‑maximal tests). - Measure muscle strength and expiratory muscle fatigue. - Record and analyse ECG signals for heart rate variability. - Manage physiological testing equipment and maintain quality control. - Analyze physiological data and assist in reporting results. - Recruit, consent, and engage participants in the trial. - Collaborate with clinical teams and maintain study documentation. - Provide ongoing training and support to junior staff where required. Required Skills: - PhD (or pending) in healthcare science, physiology, sports and exercise medicine, or related field. - In‑depth knowledge of cardiorespiratory and muscle physiology. - Hands‑on experience with cardiac, lung, or muscle physiological measurements. - Proficiency in data handling and basic statistical analysis. - Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure. Required Education & Certifications: - Doctorate in Healthcare Science/Physiology/Sport & Exercise Medical Sciences (awarded or submitted for award). - No additional certifications required, but experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
