Job Description
Job Title: Junior SOC Analyst Role Summary: Analyze, triage, and investigate security alerts from SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and other monitoring tools. Collaborate with senior SOC analysts and incident response teams to classify incidents, recommend containment actions, and document findings. Support day‑to‑day security operations and maintain accurate incident records. Expectations: Actively monitor and respond to security events, prioritize alerts by severity, maintain up‑to‑date system security, and contribute to proactive threat intelligence. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, effective communication, and continuous learning to adapt to evolving cybersecurity threats. Key Responsibilities: - Monitor security alerts from SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and related tools. - Triage and prioritize alerts based on severity and business impact. - Investigate and analyze incidents to determine threat nature, scope, and potential impact. - Classify incidents for escalation to senior analysts or incident response teams. - Execute incident response procedures and containment actions under guidance. - Maintain detailed incident documentation, including actions and outcomes. - Prepare monthly reports summarizing incident status, metrics, and emerging trends. - Install, manage, and update security software across systems and networks. - Participate in ad‑hoc projects and other activities as required. Required Skills: - Knowledge of SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and security monitoring tools. - Ability to evaluate, triage, and prioritize security alerts quickly and accurately. - Incident analysis and documentation capabilities. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - Proactive learning mindset and awareness of evolving cybersecurity threats. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Security certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, EC-Council Security Analyst, or equivalent).
