Job Description
Job title: Backend Engineer Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high‑availability backend services and APIs that power an IoT connectivity platform. Work in an Agile team using Java/Spring Boot or Python frameworks, integrate message brokers, store data in NoSQL databases, and collaborate closely with product, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable features. Expectations: - Deliver clean, well‑tested, and documented code on schedule. - Contribute to system architecture, performance tuning, and reliability. - Maintain continuous integration/delivery pipelines and uphold coding standards. - Troubleshoot production incidents and proactively mitigate potential issues. Key Responsibilities: - Build and evolve RESTful APIs with Java Spring Boot (or Python Flask/Django). - Implement asynchronous communication using RabbitMQ or AWS SQS/SNS. - Model and persist data in MongoDB or equivalent NoSQL store. - Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to define requirements, test plans, and deployment strategies. - Write unit and integration tests; enforce code coverage and quality metrics. - Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and performance optimization. - Monitor application health and log metrics using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or Prometheus. - Manage Git workflows, branch management, and CI/CD pipelines. - Document API specifications and system design decisions. Required Skills: - 3+ years of professional experience with Java and Spring Boot. - Proven experience building and consuming REST APIs. - Hands‑on with message brokers (RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS). - Familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases. - Strong Git usage and familiarity with CI/CD practices. - Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies. - Excellent debugging, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (equivalent industry experience acceptable). - Optional: AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or containerization knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes) considered a plus.
