Job Description
**Job Title:** Ride Control Hardware Engineer, Principal (Controls Automation) **Role Summary:** Lead the design and implementation of advanced control systems for complex ride platforms in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment. Focus on electrical control systems, safety-critical automation, and integration of emerging technologies. Provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle. **Expectations:** - Spearhead engineering solutions for next-generation ride control hardware and software. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop reliable, safe, and scalable systems. - Ensure compliance with global standards and project performance requirements. - Manage vendors, contractors, and external resources for system delivery. - Travel domestically and internationally for project durations (1 week–3 years). **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, analyze, and validate electrical supply systems and control architectures. - Develop proof-of-concept prototypes and implement control equipment specifications. - Conduct hazard assessments, failure modes, and effects analysis (FMEA). - Oversee supplier design and delivery of hardware/software systems. - Execute factory acceptance testing and site commissioning of ride control systems. - Research and integrate new technologies to enhance automation and safety. **Required Skills:** - 10+ years of engineering experience in electromechanical system control. - Proficiency in fail-safe and safety-related control system design. - Expertise in control processors, components, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, CAN, ProfiNET, EtherCAT). - In-depth knowledge of electrical standards (UL508a, NEC) and amusement industry codes (ASTM F2291). - Mastery of motor/motion control systems and industrial automation integration. - Strong leadership and coordination skills for cross-functional teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Electrical Engineering preferred. - Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent. - Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, Simulink) and automation systems (Rockwell, Siemens). - Prior experience in international amusement standards (e.g., France, Hong Kong).
