Job Description: Job title: Software Engineer Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain high‑impact features for Posit Workbench, a collaborative data‑science IDE platform. Work on cross‑language codebases, contribute to architecture, and drive customer‑centric improvements. Expactations: • 2+ years of professional experience in Rust or C++ on Linux/macOS. • Strong SQL knowledge and relational‑database service development. • Passion for clean, well‑tested, user‑focused code. • Ability to decompose complex problems, own features, and collaborate empathetically. Key Responsibilities: • Build and fix Workbench features for IDE session launch and cluster management. • Design observable, scalable, maintainable components across Rust/C++/Go/TypeScript/Python. • Write automated unit and end‑to‑end tests. • Review feature specifications and pull requests. • Incorporate stakeholder feedback and support enterprise customers. • Improve documentation accuracy and coverage. • Foster inclusive team culture and influence process improvements. Required Skills: • Proficient in Rust or C++ on Linux/macOS. • SQL proficiency; experience building services with relational databases. • Familiarity with Linux system administration. • Understanding of cloud integration (AWS/Azure), Kubernetes, Slurm, OpenID, SAML. • Knowledge of IDE integration (VS Code, RStudio, Positron). • Strong debugging, testing, and code‑review abilities. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). No mandatory certifications required.
