Job Description
Job title: Medical Laboratory Technologist 1 Role Summary: Perform standardized medical and clinical laboratory tests, including identification, quantification, molecular testing, and antimicrobial susceptibility of bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses, and antibodies. Deliver accurate, timely results to healthcare providers, maintain quality assurance, and support laboratory operations within regulatory frameworks. Expactations: Deliver results within PHO laboratory turnaround times; authorize and communicate test findings in compliance with CMLTO regulations; uphold PHO privacy and confidentiality policies; maintain high standards of equipment and QC management; provide leadership and training to laboratory attendants; contribute to quality management and special projects. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct and interpret clinical microbiology assays (culture, identification, antimicrobial susceptibility, molecular diagnostics). - Report and relay laboratory results to clinicians promptly, following PHO TAT guidelines. - Authorize release of results and discuss findings with clients per CMLTO regulations. - Execute quality assurance and control procedures, including proficiency testing and QC review. - Monitor equipment and supplies, ensuring operational readiness. - Supervise and train Laboratory Attendants, offering technical guidance and support. - Assist Senior Technologists and Operational Lead with testing and special projects. - Participate in the laboratory’s Quality Management Program and IQMH requirements. - Perform additional duties or projects as assigned. - Maintain acceptable attendance and shift schedules.
