**Job Title**
Senior Kubernetes Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, implement, and maintain complex Kubernetes environments for mission‑critical applications. Provide technical leadership in container strategy, mentor junior staff, and support live joint virtual construct (JLVC) exercises and wargames. Ensure high availability, performance, and secure operation of containerized workloads while delivering cost reporting, acceptance testing, and documentation to stakeholders.
**Expectations**
- Active DoD Secret clearance required.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with proven work in DevSecOps and operational support.
- Ability to work after‑hours and weekends during JLVC events.
- Strong program‑management collaboration and communication skills.
- Minimal travel; remote and on‑site support as needed.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. **Kubernetes Architecture & Operations** – Design, deploy, scale, and manage production‑grade Kubernetes clusters; implement CI/CD pipelines and automated release workflows.
2. **Jlvc Support** – Provide on‑site technical support during JLVC exercises, troubleshoot software issues, and assist with upgrade/deployment of new releases following the Code‑to‑Production lifecycle.
3. **Testing & Documentation** – Conduct acceptance testing in the JLVC environment, create GitLab issues as needed, and document results per Prime Program Manager’s templates.
4. **Cost Management** – Generate monthly cost reports and invoices from billable charges, ensuring timely submission.
5. **Stakeholder Communication** – Facilitate meetings, agile stand‑ups, and workshops to bridge requirements between development, DevSecOps, and operational teams.
6. **Process Improvement** – Identify opportunities for automation and streamlined workflows across development, testing, and release processes.
7. **Reporting** – Compile post‑JLVC exercise reports detailing successes, challenges, and participant feedback.
8. **Issue Tracking & Resolution** – Monitor and track incidents from detection through resolution, prioritizing work for upcoming events.
**Required Skills**
- Kubernetes administration (Cluster & workload management).
- CI/CD with GitLab (pipeline creation, merge‑request workflows).
- Scripting in Python, Ruby, Perl, and Java.
- DevSecOps practices (security scanning, image signing, policy enforcement).
- Monitoring and performance optimization (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
- High‑availability architecture design.
- Debugging complex distributed software in production environments.
- Documentation and training materials creation.
- Strong verbal, written, and stakeholder‑management communication.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or higher).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) preferred.
- Relevant DevSecOps certifications (e.g., CWAPP, Docker Certified Associate, or equivalent).
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or eligibility to obtain).
