**Job Title**
Functional Engineer – Industrial Ovens (Automation & Control)
**Role Summary**
Lead the functional analysis, automation design, and thermal regulation of custom industrial ovens. Work across cross‑functional interfaces (process, combustion, mechanics) to deliver safe, high‑performance control systems using Siemens S7‑400 and TIA Portal.
**Expectations**
- Deliver complete functional specifications and automation designs that satisfy contractual and process requirements.
- Implement robust PID multi‑zone regulation, HMI/SCADA supervision, and maintain safety integrity (SIL, HAZOP, FMEA).
- Ensure successful FAT testing and customer review of functional design.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Gather and analyze client and contract requirements; generate functional requirements and logic trees.
- Define functional scope, services, and constraints of the oven; create functional diagrams (logigram).
- Design, code, and verify Siemens S7‑400 PLC programs in TIA Portal (sequences, state machines, GRAFCET).
- Configure inputs/outputs, industrial networks, and HMI/SCADA displays for real‑time control.
- Program PID (cascade, feedforward, multi‑zone) loops; select sensors and actuators.
- Conduct functional testing during FAT; prepare Functional Design Specifications for client review.
- Perform HAZOP studies, FMEA analysis, and verify SIL requirements for critical safety functions (burners, thermal safety, emergency stops).
- Document recommendations, corrective actions, and maintain traceability.
**Required Skills**
- Siemens TIA Portal / S7‑400 PLC programming (PCS7 experience a plus).
- Functional analysis and logical design (logigram, functional specifications).
- Advanced thermal regulation expertise (multi‑zone PID, cascade, feedforward).
- Safety engineering (HAZOP, FMEA, SIL compliance).
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Drives, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering, Industrial Control, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemistry, Energy, Cement, Glass, or Steel sectors.
