Job Description
**Job Title:** Perioperative Registered Nurse **Role Summary:** Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care across multiple operating theatres. Support surgical teams as instrument, circulating, or anaesthetic nurse, ensuring safe, effective patient care and adherence to quality standards. **Expectations:** - Minimum 2 years’ experience in a perioperative setting (instrument, circulating, anaesthetic, or critical care). - Registered Nurse (AHPRA). - Strong time‑management, professionalism, initiative, and punctuality. - Commitment to continuous professional development and skill acquisition. - Flexibility to work eight‑hour shifts, including on‑call duties weekdays and weekends. **Key Responsibilities:** - Deliver perioperative nursing care in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, urology, emergency surgery, and endoscopy. - Assist with patient assessment, preparation, and monitoring before, during, and after surgery. - Maintain aseptic technique, sterile instrument management, and reprocessing procedures. - Ensure compliance with ACCORN, AS/NZS 4187 reprocessing, GENCA guidelines, and infection prevention/control protocols. - Provide documentation and communication within the multidisciplinary team. - Support staff development: aid new team members, participate in training and education programs. - Participate in shift rosters, including on‑call on weekdays and weekends. **Required Skills:** - Perioperative nursing competencies (instrument, circulating, anaesthetic). - Knowledge of ACCORN standards, AS/NZS 4187, GENCA, and infection control. - Proficiency in surgical procedures and sterile environment maintenance. - Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient‑care orientation. - Time‑management and organisational abilities. - Initiative and professionalism. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Registered Nurse licence (AHPRA). - Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent (any accredited program). - Certification or training in perioperative nursing (preferred). - GENCA training (highly desirable).
