Job Description
Job Title: Pension Specialist Role Summary: Senior‑level specialist responsible for owning, reconciling, and transferring a dedicated book of SIPP portfolios. Manages end‑to‑end administration, complex case resolution, and client service, while mentoring junior staff and driving process improvements during a major transition. Expactations: - Deliver accurate, timely SIPP administration and transfer operations that comply with UK pension legislation. - Maintain high client satisfaction and uphold regulatory standards. - Mentor and coach junior team members to improve competency across the department. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee complete administration of client SIPP accounts, including benefit calculations, drawdowns, disinvestments, crystallisation splits, death benefits, and bank reconciliations. - Perform detailed reconciliations of SIPP portfolios and manage manual transfers to new operators. - Handle complex cases involving property held within SIPPs and other specialised scenarios. - Coordinate with internal teams, clients, IFAs, and receiving schemes to ensure smooth transfers. - Identify and implement process improvements; oversee work of junior staff and provide regular feedback. - Maintain accurate documentation, audit trails, and regulatory compliance records. Required Skills: - Extensive senior‑level experience in SIPP/SSAS administration and pension transfers. - Strong knowledge of UK pension legislation, regulations, and best practices. - Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills. - Proven ability to manage complex, varied workloads and meet tight deadlines. - Experience in training, mentoring, and supporting less‑experienced team members. - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities. Required Education & Certifications: - Relevant UK pension qualification (e.g., Diploma in Pension Administration, OGC Foundation). - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior SIPP/SSAS roles.
