**Job title:** Junior Web Developer **Role Summary:** Build and maintain the mission‑control dashboard and related web tools that support the operation, manufacturing quality loop, and flight performance of a global constellation of weather balloons. Works closely with flight, manufacturing, and customer teams in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment. Owns mission‑critical systems from day one and constantly iterates to improve reliability and scalability. **Expectations:** - Deliver functional web features under tight deadlines. - Work in ambiguous, low‑structure settings, making decisions that directly affect real‑time operations. - Own production systems and live with operational outcomes, ensuring stability, security, and performance. - Communicate clearly with engineers, technicians, and customers to translate operational requests into actionable software solutions. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and maintain the web interface for mission control dashboards. - Build tools to close manufacturing quality loops and improve flight performance data pipelines. - Integrate telemetry, flight database, and manufacturing data into digestible formats. - Scale systems to support growth from 200 to 10,000 balloons. - Resolve bugs, implement automation, and propose process improvements. - Participate in daily operations, alarms, and incident response. - Interface with customers and deliver real‑time operational fixes or enhancements. **Required Skills:** - Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and React. - Experience building and maintaining production web applications. - Comfortable working in high‑availability, mission‑critical environments. - Ability to learn quickly and thrive in ambiguous, low‑structure settings. - Excellent written and verbal communication; articulate complex problems to diverse audiences. - Self‑directed, action‑oriented problem solver with high work ethic. - Prior exposure to distributed telemetry or time‑series data is a plus. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - No mandatory certifications, but knowledge of DevOps practices, continuous integration, and cloud infrastructure is advantageous.
