**Job Title:** Head of Data Science
**Role Summary**
Lead the Data Science function within a comprehensive data organization (Analytics, Product, Engineering, ML). Drive strategy, model innovation, and operational excellence to deliver measurable commercial impact across key business verticals such as customer acquisition, engagement, fraud prevention, and responsible lending.
**Expectations**
- Set and execute a data‑science roadmap that translates into tangible business outcomes.
- Build and govern a high‑performance data‑science team that applies advanced analytics, machine learning, and causal inference.
- Act as the strategic partner for executive leaders, translating ambiguous problems into rigorous analytical solutions.
- Ensure model validity, risk compliance, and performance monitoring across production.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Define, own, and drive the end‑to‑end data‑science roadmap, including AI/ML and causal inference initiatives.
- Lead development, validation, and production deployment of custom machine‑learning and statistical models.
- Serve as a strategic data consultant to business units, translating commercial problems into analytic frameworks and actionable insights.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Product teams to maintain data quality, lineage, and accessibility.
- Establish model performance monitoring, governance, and bias‑fairness checks to uphold regulatory and risk standards.
- Hire, mentor, and coach a high‑performing data‑science team, fostering technical rigor and cross‑functional collaboration.
**Required Skills**
- 8+ years in data science, applied science, or related quantitative field.
- Proven impact in at least one financial‑services domain (credit/lending, fraud/risk, or customer growth/engagement).
- Expert proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit‑learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and statistical/causal inference methods.
- Hands‑on experience with distributed data platforms (Spark, Hive) and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong leadership ability to thrive in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments and attract top talent.
- Excellent communication skills for translating technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Certifications in data‑science tools or cloud platforms are a plus (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate).
