**Job title**
Controller
**Role Summary**
Lead financial reporting and compliance for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate GAAP statements and regulatory filings. Mentor accounting teams, manage client engagements, and champion process improvements to deliver actionable insights to management, boards, and investors.
**Expactations**
* Deliver timely, accurate financial statements and non‑GAAP KPIs.
* Provide clear explanations of variances and account components.
* Maintain full compliance with GAAP, tax, and regulatory requirements.
* Build strong client relationships and ensure high‑quality service.
* Lead, develop, and retain a high‑performing accounting team.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Own financial reporting for multiple clients: prepare, review, and present GAAP statements and key metrics.
* Explain financial results and variance analysis to client leadership and investors.
* Act as GAAP subject‑matter expert: revenue recognition, equity accounting, inter‑company consolidation, foreign‑entity reporting.
* Conduct technical accounting research and implement new standards.
* Oversee internal controls, audit support, and regulatory filings.
* Ensure compliance with tax, sales tax, payroll, and reporting obligations in collaboration with external specialists.
* Right‑size accounting effort based on client stage and needs.
* Advise on process and technology improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
* Lead client management, build relationships, manage client expectations, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Hire, onboard, coach, and evaluate accounting staff; foster continuous professional growth.
**Required Skills**
* Advanced knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, ASC 842, FASB, IASB.
* Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills.
* Expertise in financial consolidation, foreign‑currency reporting, and equity accounting.
* Experience with audit coordination and regulatory filings.
* Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Yardi, or similar).
* Project management and client engagement leadership.
* Ability to mentor and develop junior accounting professionals.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters preferred).
* CPA designation (or equivalent U.S. CPA, Chartered Accountant, or ACCA).
* Ongoing professional development in GAAP and regulatory changes preferred.
