Job Description
**Job Title** Spacecraft Software Development Engineer **Role Summary** Design, implement, test, and document software for spacecraft systems and ground support tools. Deliver performance‑validated code, maintain clear requirement traces, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet aerospace standards and project milestones. **Expectations** - Provide high‑quality, timely deliverables within an Agile framework. - Maintain accurate documentation of functions, use cases, requirements, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). - Adhere to security clearance requirements and background‑check protocols. - Manage multiple priorities, coordinate with stakeholders, and participate in a 9/80 schedule with occasional travel. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Develop software modules for spacecraft systems or ground‑testing/verification tools. 2. Perform performance analysis, integration, and verification testing of software functions and interfaces. 3. Document software functions, use cases, requirements, and ICDs. 4. Validate software through integrated simulation environments. 5. Create unit and interface verification tests. 6. Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives). 7. Support configuration management, version control, and tool‑chain maintenance. 8. Collaborate with engineering, QA, and operations teams to resolve technical issues. 9. Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tool utilization. **Required Skills** - Event‑ and data‑driven architecture experience. - TCP/IP networking and CCSDS packet protocol knowledge. - Familiarity with configuration management and version control tools. - Proficiency in web‑based collaboration platforms (JIRA, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams). - Agile software development experience (Scrum/Kanban). - Strong communication, negotiation, and coordination skills. - Excellent customer‑service orientation. - Ability to document software requirements and interfaces clearly. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). - US citizenship or lawful permanent residency; eligibility to obtain a security clearance. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Systems, Software, Aerospace, or related discipline) from an accredited institution. - Minimum 2 years of recent, related aerospace or DoD software development experience. - Eligibility to pass a national agency background verification and security clearance.
