Job Title: Health & Safety Specialist
Role Summary:
Lead implementation and oversight of EHS programs in a Tier 1 manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations as well as ISO 50001, 14001, and 45001 standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory coordination, audits, injury investigations, and EHS training, while driving continuous improvement initiatives that reduce environmental impact and occupational injury.

- Maintain strict adherence to regulatory and corporate standards across all plant operations.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills in a dynamic, shift‑based setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage standardized E2HS processes and ISO frameworks (ISO 50001, 14001, 45001).
- Conduct regular audits, follow‑up actions, and report findings to plant leadership and corporate EHS.
- Investigate plant injuries, identify root causes, and track corrective action implementation.
- Chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and deliver monthly safety talks.
- Lead risk assessment processes and industrial hygiene sampling.
- Participate in equipment design reviews to ensure EHS compliance (PHSR, SMI‑105, etc.).
- Integrate ergonomic practices into work processes.
- Coordinate EHS training program development with HR and monitor training completion.
- Manage routine EHS reporting, data acquisition, documentation, and regulatory inspection communications.
- Identify, lead, and execute EHS projects that improve key performance metrics.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety, Environmental, or Engineering experience in a manufacturing/automotive setting.
- In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local EHS regulations.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related EHS software.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and additional hours as required.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related discipline.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or equivalent (preferred).
- Relevant safety or environmental certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are advantageous.
