Job Description
Job Title: Software Engineer II-Backend Role Summary: Mid‑level backend engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable services that support a high‑traffic student learning platform. Own the end‑to‑end development cycle, from architecture decisions to production monitoring, and actively contribute to continuous improvement and reliability. Expactations: - Deliver production‑ready code with strong test coverage and robust observability. - Champion best practices and drive incremental performance and reliability gains. - Collaborate effectively within a distributed, high‑performing team. Key Responsibilities: - Own the full lifecycle of backend features: design, coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring. - Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response. - Identify bottlenecks, simplify architecture, and enhance system efficiency. - Promote code quality, review standards, and process improvements. - Work closely with cross‑functional teams to align technical solutions with product goals. Required Skills: - Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot (or equivalent modern JVM framework). - Experience designing and operating distributed systems. - Hands‑on with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). - Knowledge of infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools. - Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude toward system improvement. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Certifications in Java, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms preferred but not mandatory.
