**Job title**
Legal Counsel
**Role Summary**
Provide legal support to a multinational energy group, focusing on renewable energy regulation, project development, financing, and commercial contracting across the GRID Solutions and Energy Retailer business units. Translate complex energy legislation into actionable advice and manage legal affairs from land tenure to dispute resolution for projects in Belgium and abroad.
**Expectations**
- Translate energy regulations into clear, practical guidance for operational teams.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and energy‑related contracts.
- Ensure legal feasibility and compliance for renewable production and commercialization projects.
- Resolve administrative appeals and disputes arising from renewable project development.
- Support behind‑the‑meter C&I projects (solar, battery, EV charging).
- Coordinate notarization, legal documentation, regulatory monitoring, board support, legal audits, and dispute resolution.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Interpret and advise on energy, environmental, urban planning, and commercial law relevant to renewable projects.
- Secure land tenure, negotiate collaboration contracts, support tenders, and obtain permits.
- Assess legal feasibility of projects in Belgium; ensure compliance with local and EU regulations.
- Manage appeals against administrative authorisations and other project‑related disputes.
- Liaise with notaries, law firms, and internal stakeholders to coordinate signing processes and document management.
- Monitor regulatory changes, maintain standard legal templates, inter‑company agreements, and SLAs.
- Prepare internal legal documents, presentations, and board‑level materials.
- Assist in legal audits, contract management, and settlement negotiations with external counsel.
**Required Skills**
- 4–7 years of relevant legal experience in urban planning, environmental, energy, or commercial law.
- Proven drafting, negotiation, and contract management abilities.
- Fluency in Dutch or French; ability to draft in the other Belgian language and in English.
- Strong analytical, detail‑oriented, and solution‑focused mindset.
- Effective multitasking with clear oversight of parallel projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills; adept at stakeholder relationship building.
- High integrity and collaborative team approach.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Master’s degree in Law (LLM or equivalent).
- Valid work permit for Belgium, and residence in Belgium.
