Job Description
**Job Title** Internship – Environmental Planning **Role Summary** An 8‑to‑12‑week summer internship focused on climate and environmental policy. Interns work on real client projects, produce technical planning reports, and complete an independent research or design project. **Expectations** - Duration: 10+ weeks, June–August, with flexible start dates. - Commitment: minimum 25 hours per week (up to 30 hours preferred). - Working model: hybrid (in‑person and remote) with a focus on work‑life balance. - Academic requirement: 3.0 GPA or higher. - Physical requirement: ability to lift up to 30 lb. of equipment. - No visa sponsorship available. **Key Responsibilities** - Assess infrastructure vulnerabilities and analyze legal requirements for environmental permitting and climate adaptation plans. - Produce graphics, written content, and technical reports. - Collaborate with planners, landscape architects, and engineers on drainage, flood control, water‑conservation, and land‑use projects. - Utilize GIS, AutoCAD, and related software for data analysis and design. - Participate in project meetings, contributing to planning and design discussions. - Conduct fieldwork, including water‑quality sampling and flow measurements. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS). - Experience with spatial programming (Python, R, ESRI ArcGIS Online). - Design skills (Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent open‑source tools). - Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills. - Effective written and oral communication. **Required Education & Certifications** - Currently enrolled in a STEM, pre‑engineering, civil engineering, environmental science, or related program. - Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. *(All applicants must pass a criminal background check.)*
