Forward Deployed Engineer (Software Engineer)
**Role Summary**
Deploy and optimize AI platforms in production, ensuring high reliability, security, and compliance. Provide technical escalation and leadership, enable knowledge sharing across teams, and drive the operational excellence of machine‑learning systems on cloud environments.
**Expectations**
- 10+ years of professional experience in software, infrastructure, or applied ML engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to deploy and scale distributed systems using Kubernetes and serverless architectures on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Proven track record of operationalizing ML models (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, or custom inference engines) in production environments.
- Strong DevOps background: CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Helm, Ansible), monitoring, observability, and alerting.
- Deep understanding of API design, distributed data workflows, and SRE principles.
- Security‑first mindset with experience in enterprise SaaS security (SSO, RBAC, encryption) and compliance frameworks (SOC‑2, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Excellent communication skills to lead technical escalations and enable cross‑functional knowledge sharing.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, deploy, and maintain AI platform components in multi‑cloud environments.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, and automated testing for ML workloads.
- Set up comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) for production services.
- Perform capacity planning, performance profiling, and scaling of ML inference pipelines.
- Enforce security controls and compliance requirements across all deployed services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents, providing root‑cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Mentor and train teams on deployment best practices, tooling, and emerging AI platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with product, data science, and operations teams to translate business requirements into reliable, scalable solutions.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript; strong backend engineering fundamentals.
- Expertise with Kubernetes, Docker, and serverless frameworks (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, Azure Functions).
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, Ansible, and CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, API design, and data engineering workflows.
- Hands‑on experience with ML model deployment (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, custom inference engines).
- Understanding of SRE concepts, performance tuning, and scaling strategies.
- Strong grasp of security practices: SSO, RBAC, encryption, API security, SOC‑2/HIPAA/GDPR compliance.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) and/or Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) are highly desirable.
- Certifications in security and compliance (CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) are a plus.
