Sr. Linux Systems Administrator
Job Description
Job Title: Sr. Linux Systems Administrator Role Summary: Lead Tier 3 support for mission‑critical RHEL environments, VMware virtualization, and automation tools. Provide 24/7 lifecycle maintenance, patching, hardening, and incident response for control‑center infrastructure. Expactations: • 7 am‑4 pm weekdays, 10 % local travel, up to 10 % non‑core hours. • Must be U.S. citizen, pass federal background check. • Maintain service‑level agreements, documentation, and compliance records. Key Responsibilities: • Configure, install, update, and remove Linux (RHEL) and virtualization software (vCenter, NSX, Aria Suite). • Manage configuration via Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Chef. • Maintain source control (Git) and package repositories (RHEL Satellite). • Apply least‑privileged, role‑based access controls and hardening baselines. • Design and support automated patching, security scanning (Nessus), and vulnerability remediation. • Provide training, scripting (Bash, Python), and DevOps best‑practice guidance. • Operate in isolated, air‑gapped environments; respond to incidents and perform system energization/acceptance testing. Required Skills: • 5+ years enterprise Linux administration (RHEL). • Proficiency in VMware vCenter, NSX, Aria Suite. • Experience with configuration management (Puppet/Chef/Salt), automation, and source‑control tools. • Scripting in Bash or Python. • Vulnerability assessment and patch management. • 24/7 high‑availability operations experience. • Knowledge of cloud or private‑cloud environments, network security, and facility management. Required Education & Certifications: • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. • Minimum 6 years experience with degree, or 10 years without. • No mandatory certifications listed (RHCE, VMware VCP, or similar preferred).
