Job Description
Job Title: Cybersecurity Intern Role Summary: Provide hands‑on support to the Information Security team by executing governance, risk, and compliance activities, assisting in vulnerability management, incident response, and cybersecurity policy implementation while contributing to strategic projects. Expactations: - Full‑time engagement, 40 hrs/week, during the internship period. - Ability to work collaboratively with vendors, SOC analysts, and cross‑functional teams. - Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and participate in training and exercises. Key Responsibilities: - Support current cybersecurity staff in implementing the cybersecurity program and strategic goals. - Collaborate with security vendors to troubleshoot tools and platforms. - Triage and remediate alerts received through a managed SOC. - Conduct regular vulnerability assessments of systems, IT assets, and networks using industry tools. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of emerging threats, trends, and defenses. - Assist in delivering cybersecurity awareness training and reviewing policies. - Participate in incident response exercises and real‑time incident handling. - Monitor, collect, and report on cybersecurity metrics, KPIs, and KRIs. - Process threat intelligence feeds relevant to the organization. - Triage phishing emails, classify dispositions, and aid in quarantined message review. Required Skills: - Foundation in information technology, operating systems, network security, application & infrastructure security. - Basic knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), vulnerability management, risk assessment, and incident response. - Critical thinking, analytical skills, and strong attention to detail. - Effective written and oral communication. - Energetic, proactive attitude with eagerness to adopt emerging security tools and practices. Required Education & Certifications: - Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. - No specific certifications required (industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CEH considered a plus). - Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
