Job title: Procurement Specialist
Role Summary:
Lead end‑to‑end procurement for a high‑value capital project. Develop and execute tailored commercial strategies, manage the full tender lifecycle, and oversee contract administration, while ensuring alignment with project objectives, governance, schedule, and budget.
Expectations:
* Independent contractor for a 1‑year term, based in Vancouver.
* Deliver fit‑for‑purpose procurement solutions that drive value, cost control, and schedule integrity.
* Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administer Stage‑Gate commercial and procurement requirements.
2. Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies specific to the project.
3. Lead pre‑award activities: prepare and issue tender documents.
4. Manage bid clarifications, evaluate proposals, negotiate complex terms, and draft award recommendations.
5. Issue contract documents, expedite key deliverables, and manage contract changes and amendments.
6. Handle claims, review invoices, and coordinate payments per contractual terms.
7. Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure clear expectations and reliable delivery.
8. Coordinate business readiness activities with Commercial, Project, and Operations teams.
9. Identify opportunities for cost optimization, value addition, and schedule alignment.
10. Apply materials‑management knowledge where relevant.
Required Skills:
* Extensive sourcing, procurement, negotiation, contracting, category management, and stakeholder engagement experience.
* Proven track record in capital project procurement.
* Deep understanding of project execution and contract models (unit rate, lump sum, cost‑reimbursable, target price; direct hire, prime contractor, integrated owner teams; competitive bid vs. sole source).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, Ariba, and commercial platforms such as Aconex and Contruent.
* Ability to execute Stage‑Gate requirements and manage complex commercial processes.
* Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and structured problem‑solving skills.
* Collaborative mindset with strong cross‑disciplinary relationship building.
* Adaptability, self‑awareness, and commitment to project outcomes.
Required Education & Certifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
