**Job Title**
Data Scientist (Contract)
**Role Summary**
Spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine‑learning models to solve complex business problems. Translate analytical insights into actionable business recommendations, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate cross‑functionally to drive data‑driven decision making.
**Expectations**
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Sciences, or equivalent; or
- Minimum 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree; or
- Minimum 3 years of experience with a PhD.
- At least 5 years of data‑modeling experience in a production environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Lead end‑to‑end development of high‑complexity predictive models and training datasets.
2. Execute, test, and deploy ML models in production, ensuring performance and reliability.
3. Translate business analysis needs into well‑defined data‑science problems, selecting appropriate algorithms and presenting evaluation results to stakeholders.
4. Prioritize modeling work to maximize operational impact and balance trade‑offs among value, methodology, and technology.
5. Mentor and collaborate with junior data scientists, fostering skill growth.
6. Create process models, business objects, and documentation that articulate technical solutions.
7. Manage quantitative model development, tools, and schedules, monitoring progress against project plans.
8. Engage with business leaders to provide strategic insights on financial levers and operational drivers.
9. Maintain up‑to‑date project plans, risk assessments, and status reports for stakeholders.
**Required Skills**
- Machine Learning & Algorithms: Scikit‑learn, Pandas, Spark, TensorFlow/PyTorch, Bayesian networks, graph analytics.
- Programming: Python, R, SQL, Scala; notebooks (Jupyter, Zeppelin).
- Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, containerization, CI/CD, version control.
- Data Engineering: Data‑warehouse and OLTP design, ETL pipelines, database architecture.
- Statistical Foundations: Probability, linear algebra, calculus, inference, hypothesis testing.
- Presentation: Visual dashboards, PowerPoint, technical/write communication.
- Agile/Scrum: Team collaboration, backlog grooming, sprint planning.
- Software Engineering Principles: OOP, modular design, testing, code review.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
- Master’s degree in a related discipline with at least 6 years of experience.
- PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
(Additional certifications in machine learning, data science, cloud platforms, or project management are considered a plus.)
