Job Description
Job Title: Litigation Associate – General Law Department (Recent Graduates Welcome) Role Summary Support the General Law Litigation team by handling a broad range of civil litigation matters before state and federal courts. Undertake all pre‑trial, trial, and post‑trial activities while receiving comprehensive training from the Senior Litigation Partner. Expectations - Complete the bar exam within the first year or be a qualified third‑year law student. - Demonstrate rapid learning and ability to adapt to diverse litigation areas. - Engage in long‑term career development within the firm’s general law practice. Key Responsibilities - Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents. - Collect, organize, and analyze discovery materials; prepare interrogatories, requests for production, and deposition questions. - Negotiate settlement terms and prepare settlement agreements. - Assist in trial preparation, including witness interviews, exhibit preparations, and trial outlines. - Attend hearings, conferences, and trials as directed. - Maintain accurate case files, timelines, and billing reports. - Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and support staff. - Contribute to case strategy discussions under partner supervision. Required Skills - Exceptional written and oral communication. - Strong legal research and analytical abilities. - Detail‑oriented organization and time‑management. - Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document‑management software. - Ability to work independently while following senior guidance. - Basic proficiency in case‑management tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Required Education & Certifications - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. - Expected admission to the Pennsylvania Bar within the first year of employment, or a sitting final‑year law student with impending bar exam. - No prior litigation experience required.
