Job Description: Job title: Scala Developer – Java Role Summary: Architect, develop, and maintain distributed data processing applications using Spark, Scala/Java, on cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks. Deliver scalable, high‑performance solutions that integrate with enterprise data warehouses (DB2, Teradata, Snowflake) and support downstream analytics tools. Expectations: • Work within strict project timelines in a globally distributed team. • Communicate progress and technical details clearly to stakeholders. • Deliver robust, well‑tested code, troubleshoot production issues, and adhere to best practices in data engineering. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement Spark pipelines for batch and streaming processing. • Develop and optimize Scala/Java services for data ingestion, transformation, and storage. • Integrate with Azure services (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory) and Databricks notebooks. • Write SQL for data modeling, reporting, and ETL tasks across DB2, Teradata, and Snowflake. • Collaborate on Python scripts and Power BI dashboards as needed. • Maintain documentation, verify code quality, and participate in code reviews. • Engage in cross‑functional collaboration with data scientists, BI engineers, and product owners. Required Skills: • 4–8 years of distributed application development experience. • Proficiency in Scala and Java. • Strong background with Apache Spark (DataFrames, Datasets, Structured Streaming). • Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure and Databricks. • Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with DB2, Teradata, Snowflake. • Knowledge of Python; exposure to Power BI and Angular is a plus. • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. • Valid certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Databricks Certified Data Engineer) are advantageous.
