Job Title: Head of DevOps
Role Summary:
Lead the technical vision and execution for a serverless, event‑driven PaaS on AWS. Oversee the design, deployment, and scaling of cloud‑native services, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and secure public APIs. Manage a distributed engineering team, mentor staff, and deliver high‑impact features across backend dashboards and modern front‑end applications.
Expactations:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in DevOps or Technical Leadership roles.
- Proven ability to build and scale front‑end and back‑end solutions.
- Deep expertise in AWS serverless and event‑driven architecture.
- Strong command of CI/CD, Agile, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed team leadership.
- Familiarity with social media, advertising, e‑commerce, or news domains is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and optimise a high‑scale, cloud‑native PaaS on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, ECS/EKS).
- Drive continuous integration, continuous delivery, automation, observability, and reliability across the platform.
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, performant public APIs.
- Build real‑time, distributed systems and handle data streaming pipelines.
- Mentor and elevate a cross‑functional, geographically distributed engineering team.
- Prototype, ship, and iterate features that deliver commercial impact, including mobile apps and progressive web apps.
- Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
Required Skills:
- Software engineering – extensive experience in Node.js, Go, Python, Java, or comparable languages.
- AWS serverless, event‑driven architecture, and microservices fundamentals.
- CI/CD tooling, container orchestration, and Agile delivery practices.
- Leadership of distributed engineering teams and talent development.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis) and service meshes.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, DevOps Engineer) preferred.
