Job Description
**Job Title:** Senior Manager – Software Asset Management **Role Summary:** Leads and oversees end‑to‑end delivery of Software Asset Management (SAM) services, ensuring alignment with ITIL/ITSM standards. Partners with IT, procurement, finance, compliance, and audit functions to optimize software licensing, compliance, and cost efficiency while guiding a team of Software Asset Managers. **Expectations:** - Provide strategic direction and leadership for SAM initiatives. - Maintain high service reliability and compliance posture. - Drive continuous improvement and cost‑saving opportunities. - Act as primary liaison for major software publishers and internal stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage SAM service delivery and ensure ITIL process adherence. - Coordinate with IT, Procurement, Finance, Compliance, and Internal Audit on license tracking, consumption, optimization, and compliance. - Lead implementation and integration of SAM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera). - Monitor, report, and defend against software audits; minimize financial exposure. - Refine SAM capabilities, prioritize feature enhancements, and streamline portfolio management. - Execute cost‑reduction strategies: co‑terming, license reclamation, application rationalization. - Establish single‑point‑of‑contact relationships with major software vendors. - Develop a holistic view of software assets across business units. - Collaborate with Governance Lead to improve SAM processes and lifecycle management, including end‑of‑life activities. **Required Skills:** - 15+ years relevant experience (or Bachelor’s + 5 years). - 5+ years in IT Asset Management (ITAM) or IT operations. - Deep knowledge of SAM lifecycles, licensing models, and metrics. - Proficiency with SAM tools (ServiceNow, Flexera, etc.). - Strong vendor and contract management expertise. - Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and organizational abilities. - Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive process improvements. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience). - Relevant certifications such as CSAM, CITAM, ITIL (any level).
