Job Description
**Job Title** Principal Software Engineer **Role Summary** Lead independent contributor driving high‑quality software delivery across a Centre of Excellence. Owns complex problem resolution, technical strategy alignment with product goals, and mentorship of engineering teams. Designs, reviews, and implements scalable, event‑driven solutions on cloud platforms. **Expectations** - Deliver critical software components that meet stringent quality and reliability standards. - Guide teams through challenging technical issues and architectural decisions. - Foster a diverse, inclusive culture and provide constructive coaching to engineers at all levels. - Translate product roadmaps into maintainable, scalable codebases. **Key Responsibilities** - Lead engineering change initiatives and shape technical direction in collaboration with Heads of Engineering, Architects, and Product Managers. - Resolve complex technical challenges and design decisions, articulating risks and rationale. - Conduct code reviews and automated test reviews, ensuring maintainability, reliability, and performance. - Mentor and develop engineers, promoting best practices and a world‑class software culture. - Architect, build, and deploy message‑based, event‑driven ecosystems capable of handling millions of events per second. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into scalable, high‑quality code. - Advocate for continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering track. **Required Skills** - Deep expertise in C#/.NET, PHP, and Python with related frameworks. - Experience designing and scaling event‑driven, message‑based architectures (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ). - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and cloud deployment pipelines. - Proven ability to review code and automated tests, providing constructive feedback. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and conflict resolution skills. - Ability to mentor and influence engineers at all experience levels. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. - Professional certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) and/or relevant programming languages are preferred.
