Job Description

**Job Title:** Junior Software Engineer **Role Summary:** Develop and maintain Python‑based services hosted on AWS, contributing to both backend and React/TypeScript frontend components. Work closely with scientists and engineers to transform research requirements into functional software and support ML/data pipeline development. **Expectations:** - Deliver clean, maintainable Python code. - Collaborate effectively within a remote‑first team and adapt to occasional hybrid work. - Meet project milestones during a 6‑month fixed‑term contract with potential extension based on performance and funding. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, implement, and test AWS Lambda functions, API Gateway endpoints, and related cloud resources (S3, DynamoDB). - Build and enhance features across the full stack (Python backend, React/TypeScript frontend). - Translate scientific use cases into software specifications and deliver solutions. - Contribute to the creation and iteration of machine‑learning and data processing pipelines. - Use Git for version control and follow basic testing practices. - Communicate progress and issues clearly to multidisciplinary team members. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in Python with a focus on clean, maintainable code. - Experience (academic, project, or internship) with web back‑end development or cloud services. - Familiarity with Git and basic unit testing. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. **Nice‑to‑Have Skills:** - Hands‑on experience with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway). - Front‑end development using React and TypeScript. - Exposure to ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) or scientific Python libraries (NumPy, Pandas). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees optional).
