**Job title**
Senior Quality Engineer
**Role Summary**
Lead the creation and implementation of quality systems across hardware, supply chain, and manufacturing for a robotics startup. Drive inspection protocols, vendor qualification, design‑phase quality integration, and continuous improvement in a fast‑moving environment.
**Expectations**
- On‑site presence, 5 days/week, no relocation.
- Detail‑oriented, action‑driven, collaborative with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to build quality culture from scratch and scale processes as production ramps.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Define and execute incoming part inspection plans for mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and CMMs.
- Build and manage supplier quality processes: vendor qualification, performance tracking, SCAR ownership.
- Partner with engineering in early design reviews focusing on DFM/DFA and risk mitigation; ensure drawings support quality controls.
- Maintain part approval records: FAIs, PPAPs, control plans.
- Lead or support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for defects, incoming quality, and field issues.
- Draft and update inspection work instructions, checklists, NCRs, and other quality documentation.
- Support build and assembly teams during prototype and production runs.
- Contribute to quality metrics, reports, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across teams.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years of quality engineering in high‑volume manufacturing, robotics, or electromechanical contexts.
- Proficient with inspection tools and methods (calipers, micrometers, multimeters, CMM).
- Strong experience with quality tools: FMEA, 5‑Whys, Ishikawa, 8‑D problem solving.
- Supplier qualification, auditing, and corrective action expertise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment and build systems from the ground up.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma, or ISO 9001 knowledge are a plus.
**Nice‑to‑Have**
- Early‑stage NPI and prototype manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP/PLM, GD&T, IPC standards, or robotics system integration.
